Watercolor Classes
(Re)Igniting the Creative Spark
Mondays 2:30-4:30pm
September 28th - November 2nd
at Art & History Museum of Maitland
Wondering how to get in touch with the creative freedom you felt as a child? Or maybe you feel stuck in the creative practice you’ve been working hard at. This is the perfect class for beginners to professionals who want to loosen up, get creative, and (re-) ignite your artistic spark! Each week of class will offer a different guided exercise for exploring creativity in a new way. While students can expect the class to focus more on creative exploration than academic study, your artistic skills and techniques will be strengthened along the way.
Beyond Watercolor Foundations
Thursdays 10am-12pm
October 8th - November 12th
at Art & History Museum of Maitland
With foundational watercolor techniques in your repertoire, the world is your palette! In this class we will explore new surfaces (like Aquabord), and spend a day painting outdoors (en plein air)! Each week will be an opportunity to hone and expand your watercolor skills. Students taking this class will also have an opportunity to meet with me for help/guidance in preparing a painting for submission, if they would like to enter a show. (Prerequisite: Foundations 1 & 2 or equivalent)
Watercolor Foundations I
Mondays 6:30-8:30pm
September 28th - November 2nd
at Art & History Museum of Maitland
Dive deep into the art of watercolor! Students will develop and strengthen essential skills needed to master this versatile medium. Grow in confidence each week as we build from composition, value, and color to brushwork, texture, and layering. At every class we’ll put our skills into practice as we paint several studies. Then everything will come together in a final course project. This class is perfect for beginner to intermediate students who want to grow in both love for and proficiency with watercolor!
Watercolor Foundations II
Thursdays 1:30-3:30pm
October 8th - November 12th
at Art & History Museum of Maitland
Ready to take your watercolor skills to the next level? Explore advanced techniques and strengthen your skills in Watercolor Foundations II. We’ll refine our eye for dynamic compositions, expand our color palettes, and enhance our skills as we paint from nature-inspired photos and still-lifes. This class is perfect for students who have taken Watercolor Foundations I (or a similar equivalent).

Watercolor Pears
Friday, November 6th

at Leu Gardens in Orlando
It’s pear season! Celebrate autumn with cozy fall colors and whimsical watercolor, culminating in a beautiful pair of pears. I’ll guide you step by step, so whether you’re new to painting or already enjoy watercolor you will learn new techniques and go home with a painting that looks good enough to eat!
Barred Owl Watercolor
Friday, October 16th
10am-12:30pm
at Leu Gardens in Orlando
Leu Gardens is home to a beautiful and mysterious family of barred owls, whoooo will be our inspiration for this watercolor painting! We’ll experiment with salt painting, straw-blowing, and complimentary colors to create the scene. Local artist Natalie Brooks will guide you step by step, so whether you’re new to painting or already enjoy watercolor you will learn new techniques and go home with a beautiful painting!
